C Section
A Cesarean Delivery (C-section) is a major surgery where a baby is delivered through an incision in the mother’s abdomen. It is either planned or an emergency procedure. Let’s understand the process, recovery, and post-operative management & care required after a C-section.
Reasons to Perform a C-Section
While Dr. Nisha Ohri prefer a natural birth, there could be multiple reasons that lead to a cesarean.
In case of breech position, placenta previa, multiple births, or a previous C-section, a planned or elective C-section can be performed.
While an emergency c-sec can take place in case labor fails to progress or cervix stops dilating or in case of fetal distress.
Your doctor will guide you to the right treatment based on your individual health and diagnosis.
Duration of C-Section:
It usually takes about 45 mins to an hour for the C-section delivery to complete. Recovery might take about -2 weeks in total; however, light movement can be resumed next day after the procedure.
Post-C-Section Care Tips
Discuss post operative care tips with your doctor for timely & safe recovery. Avoid lifting heavy weights and contact your gynecologist in case of any redness/swelling/discharge from the incision/cut.
A note from your doctor:
“My goal is to simplify your post-operative care into one clear path, giving you the speed and confidence you need to focus on what matters most - your baby.”
